Training

Personnel training is a key consideration in maintaining state certification.  Our department provides training throughout the year with a mix of formal and hands on training programs.

CBVFR members also take advantage of Firefigher I and II courses at The College of The Albemarle in Elizabeth City. We partner with the North Carolina Forestry Service for wetland and command structure training. The National Safety Association’s CEVO driving course has been conducted at the station.

An in-house driver’s program had been established, with certification requirements by vehicle, including a CDL or Class B license to operate our tankers.

Training Schedule

Training for members occurs on the second Saturday of each month. Members will be notified via email of any changes due to weather or other issues.

Members are also encouraged to attend fire courses offered through the North Carolina Community College System. As a volunteer firefighter, these courses are offered free of charge.
